Its not every day that you look out into the ocean to see a guy riding a wave in the shadow of his colorful balloons. You might be thinking that this picture was taken at some bizarre surf competition or something, but you would be wrong, subtract the word BIZARRE, as there is nothing out of the ordinary about this event, it is the weekly Balloon Battle Surfing competition in Santa Monica.
Thousands of surfers gather from around the neighboring shore lines, to do battle against the waves and their arched nemeses. Competitors stop at nothing to deflate their rival's balloons and see them fall into the white water that runs beneath them. This particular event was won by The Surfin' Cowboy, the fastest and meanest balloon slinger in the west!
